Big city K-9 cop Ronan McGuire loves women, loves his dog, loves his job - but when old flame Maddy Morgan moves into his jurisdiction, he can’t think about anyone else.
Ronan knows she’s way out of his league, but he’s determined to help Maddy live life to the fullest.

Maddy has immersed herself in work and swiftly made a name for herself in the hot New York City real estate market. She’s looking for safety, not love, but Ronan McGuire is as persistent as he is sexy, and his crooked smile is hard to resist. But all other concerns are wiped away when Maddy goes missing and Ronan and his bloodhound K-9 partner are tasked with finding her and bringing her home.

Another cover that jumps out at you! I mean wow look at that thing? This is a new author for me and the blurb drew me right in. Ronan McGuire is a NYC K9 cop and his partner is of course a dog. Where he goes the dog goes. Maddy Morgan is someone from his hometown he used to crush on years ago in school. Now she's living in NYC after the death of her long time boyfriend a year ago. He's been looking out for her the best he can while letting her grieve. There is a killer on the loose though and he's targeting high end real estate agents and that's what Maddy does. Ronan tries to bring Maddy back from the land of the lost while hoping to win her heart and protect her. Loved this one. Ronan and his family are awesome. They bring Maddy right into the fold when they return home for Christmas and a family wedding. I enjoyed watching these two get closer while Maddy deals with her grief and guilt over moving on. Ronan is trying to navigate his first serious relationship which is full of pitfalls. There is a thread of suspense when real estate agents are turning up dead including one of Maddy's co workers. Ronan and his K9 partner Bowser are on the job though. An awesome read!

I read this as a stand alone and have not read book one and it was not a issue at all.
