New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery returns to Blackberry Island with the poignant tale of two sisters on the verge of claiming their dreams.

Small-town nurse Nina Wentworth has made a career out of being a caretaker. More "Mom" than their mother ever was, she sacrificed medical school—and her first love—so her sister could break free. Which is why she isn't exactly thrilled to see Averil back on Blackberry Island, especially when Nina's life has suddenly become…complicated.

Nina unexpectedly finds herself juggling two men—her high school sweetheart and a younger maverick pilot who also wants to claim her heart. But as fun as all this romance is, Nina has real life to deal with. Averil doesn't seem to want the great guy she's married to, and doesn't seem to be making headway writing her first book; their mom is living life just as recklessly as she always has; and Nina's starting to realize that the control she once had is slipping out of her fingers. Her hopes of getting off the island seem to be stretching further away…until her mother makes a discovery that could change everything forever.

But before Nina and Averil can reach for the stars, they have to decide what they want. Will Averil stay? Will Nina leave? And what about the men who claim to love them? Does love heal, or will finding their happy ending mean giving up all they've ever wanted?

This is the third book in Susan Mallery's Blackberry Island series and was probably the one i liked the least. This story is about two sisters and their lives. There is some backstory told throughout the book that explains why the two are having trouble as adults. Basically their mom was a teen mom and didn't want to take on the responsibility of being a parent. Even now as the girls are well into their adult years she still can't be a parent to them. Nina the oldest took on that role at age 12 when her grandmother who was taking care of most things passed away and Averil looked to her for all answers and security. Nina is 30 and still on the Island and still taking care of her mother and everything else. Her ex boyfriend comes back and also another male acquaintance from years ago and both vie for her attention. In the meantime Averil is trying to figure out who she is and what she wants and leaves her husband at home to come back to the Island to find out. Throw in their mother and her partner and there is a lot going on. For me i could not take the constant bickering and snide comments between the two. I mean they are way old enough to beyond that at least to act better than what they were. It was a repeat and recycle of the same thing over and over throughout the book. I loved Nina's ex boyfriend  although he was mysterious for quite a while about his intentions. He came through for Nina when she needed him no matter what. The last chapters were the best when Nina and Averil finally figure out all their issues and made up with each other and the men in their lives.  This book had it's moments for me but there was to much about it that annoyed me and a few times i thought about putting it down in frustration.
