Review: "Chasing Perfect" 1st book in the Fools Gold series by author Susan Mallery

Anyone who knows my book reading tastes knows i'm a huge Susan Mallery fan. I've done my best over the last year or so to read everything she's ever written. lol Really it's true! I'm like that when i find a author i  really like. I have a huge pile of her books here at home that I've read and well many I've re read more than once. As a matter of fact i just re read Straight from the Hip Tuesday. I have a small pile of some of her older stuff in my TBR pile so like i said i'm working at it. I can't think of even one of her books I've read that i didn't absolutely love. I can't pick a favorite so don't even ask. Susan is out with a new book this week which is the first in a new series. The book is called Chasing Perfect and the series is called Fools Gold. Fools Gold is actually the name of the town where the books in the series will take place and there is a website dedicated to that. You can find that by clicking here. If you're interested in reading this series I'd highly recommend looking that website over. There is plenty of interesting things on there. It will get you familiarized with the series, the town and the people in it. You can even read chapters one and two of Chasing perfect on there as well.

OK how about a little blurb about Fools Gold, CA and Chasing perfect.
Welcome to Fool's Gold, California, a charming community in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. There's lots to do and plenty of people to meet, especially women. Because there's just one tiny problem in Fool's Gold: the men don't seem to stick around. Maybe it's the lure of big-city life, or maybe it's plain old bad luck, but regardless of the reason, the problem has to be fixed, fast. And Charity Jones may be just the city planner to do it.

Charity's nomadic childhood has left her itching to settle down, and she immediately falls in love with all the storybook town has to offer—everything, that is, except its sexiest and most famous resident, former world-class cyclist Josh Golden. With her long list of romantic disasters, she's not about to take a chance on another bad boy, even if everyone else thinks he's perfect just the way he is. But maybe that's just what he needs—someone who knows the value of his flaws. Someone who knows that he's just chasing perfect.

Sound good? You can find out more about the characters in this book and the ones currently in the works here at the Fools Gold website. Josh and Charity both have issues with trust and both had less than stellar childhoods. The town of Fools Gold pretty much raised Josh from when he was 10 yrs old and deserted by his mom. Charity's mom didn't leave her but was never there for her so essentially she raised herself.  They have to learn to trust themselves and each other if they want to find happiness. Josh experiences a traumatic death of a friend while racing and it so scarred him he retired from racing. He came back to Fools Gold to give back and silently struggled with his inner demons. Charity tries to avoid him, but finds her attraction to him impossible to not acknowledge it. Finally they get together but there are all those doubts that Charity has and the fear Josh has he's not good enough for her. Want to fine out if they work it out? Read the book! lol There are several things going on in this book that involve the people of Fools Gold which i'm sure we'll see where they go in the following books. This one introduces you to the people of Fools Gold California and gets the series started. There are some secrets to be discovered even in a small town where it's believed there is no way for there to be any secrets. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a fun romance and likes to read series books. Susan Mallery gives us a good start to this new series with Chasing perfect! I give it 5 out 5 Modokker Books Pick stars!

BTW the next book in the series is called " Almost Perfect" and will be out in paperback June 29th
